Licensed Practitioners

our approach

We treat the whole person, not only the sore shoulder: fine needles, herbs from our own dispensary, and an hour that belongs entirely to you.

Inés Tafoya grew up in Española and spent three years in a busy community clinic in Albuquerque before opening Alpenglow Acupuncture in 2011 with one treatment room and a borrowed recliner. Today three practitioners see patients in six quiet rooms and a shared community room.

Call or text us

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people feel a light tap as a needle goes in, then a dull ache or warmth, and many fall asleep. Our needles are hair-thin, single-use and sterile.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what you come in with and how long you have had it. Most patients feel a change within three to five visits, and we write down a plan at your first one.

Do you take insurance?

We give superbills you can send to your insurer for out-of-network benefits, and we take HSA and FSA cards. Call or text and we will help you check your plan.

What should I wear and bring?

Loose clothes you can roll above the knee and elbow, and something to eat an hour before. Bring a list of any medications and supplements.

What is community acupuncture?

Treatment in recliners in a shared, quiet room, at a price you choose from $40 to $65. It runs weekday evenings and Saturday mornings, first come, first served on Saturdays.

Can I come during pregnancy?

Yes. Inés and Grace both treat patients through pregnancy, alongside your doctor or midwife. Tell us when you book so we can plan your visit.
